* Achoo Gateway to Healthcare
A Yahoo-style directory of health-related internet resources. The directory may be browsed or searched. Achoo also provides topical searching, which results in a tree of links to pages containing the search term, arranged by subject.

*VirtualMed
VirtualMed is one of the Largest Gateway for Medical Resources on the Internet. Created by a Medical Student at Calicut Medical College, India.

* BIOME
A collection of gateways specific to health and life sciences. Users can search all the gateways at once, or one at a time:

  • OMNI (Organising Medical Networked Information) - Health and Biomedicine
    • NMAP - The part of OMNI specific to nurses, midwives and allied health professionals.
  • VetGate - Animal Health
  • BioResearch - Biological and Biomedical Sciences
  • Natural Selection - The Natural World (co-ordinated by the Natural History Museum)

* BioMedNet
An evaluated and annotated database of Internet resources for biological and medical researchers that may be searched or browsed. Requires free registration.

*MedLib
MedLib is the largest gateway of Medical library websites. It has a journal and a job announcement utility.

* healthfinder®
healthfinder® is a free guide to reliable consumer health and human services information, developed by the US Department of Health and Human Services. It contains links to online publications, clearinghouses, databases, Web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as government agencies and not-for-profit organisations that produce reliable information for the public.

* HealthLinks.Net
Directory lists of web sites that offer professional level information on healthcare with third party reviews. All sites on Health Links have to be approved by a panel of healthcare professionals.

* HealthWeb
Established by health sciences librarians in the USA, Health Web is a collaborative project set up to develop an interface to provide organised access to evaluated non-commercial, health-related, Internet-accessible resources.

* Joint Information Systems Committee ( JISC) Subject Guides
The JISC provides a number of electronic resources, services and development projects aimed to meet the needs of those working and studying within higher and further education. These are brought together as Subject Guides under a number of subject headings including Life Sciences and Health Studies and Social Sciences.

Medic8 is a privately owned Yahoo-style web directory which provides quick, easy access to medical resources on the internet. The directory may be searched or browsed. All websites in the Medic8 directory are peer-reviewed for suitability prior to listing.

* Mirago Health
Mirago Health (formerly Medisearch) is the health section of a UK search engine. It contains Web guides (directories of useful sites), a Reference section (articles giving advice on a number of topics) and the latest health-related news stories.

* Resource Discovery Network - Virtual training suite
The Virtual Training Suite is a set of subject-specific online tutorials designed to help students, lecturers and researchers improve their Internet information skills. The tutorials also introduce users to the key internet sites for their subject, the links to which can be stored up for saving/printing at the end.

* SOSIG
SOSIG (Social Science Information Gateway) - pronounced "sausage" - is an online catalogue of internet resources relevant to social science education and research.

* TRIP Database
The TRIP Database is a meta-search engine that searches across nearly 70 sites of high-quality medical information. By searching the TRIP Database you have direct, hyperlinked access to the largest collection of evidence-based material on the web as well as articles from premier on-line journals such as the BMJ, JAMA, NEJM etc.

* UK Health Centre
A directory of health-related internet resources, with portals for the public, for health care professionals and for health services suppliers. The news section links to the health-related stories in the day's newspapers.

* Yahoo! Health Yahoo! Health is the health section of the US search engine Yahoo! It contains many subject guides and articles as well as health news and links to relevant parts of the Yahoo! directory.
